Cellist Olli-Pekka Kajasviita from Kemijärvi began his cello playing as a student of Kai Leinonen. Music pedagogical studies he finished in 2007 with prof. Lauri Laitinen. In 2008 he rounded his professional studies with soloist degree under prof. Marko Ylönen (Sibelius-Academy). His teachers in Mastercourses have been a.o. Jan-Erik Gustafsson, Hannu Kiiski, Martti Rousi, Arturo Bonucci and Erkki Lahesmaa.
Kajasviita has performed as soloist and with his own recitals frequently in the area of Northern Finland. In 2006 he attended national Turku Cello Competition. As student Kajasviita played in Festivo Symphony Orchestra for several years and in a tour of the Norden Orchestra. As a substitute cellist he has played during several years. From 2008 he has functioned as solocellist of the Kemi City Orchestra. During 2011-2012 he functioned also as principal cello of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra. Next to his work as the cellist of the Sea Lapland String Quartet he teaches in the Sea Lapland Music Instiute.
